What is an Advocate?

Supporting Families Through the Special Education Journey

Navigating the special education process can feel overwhelming—but you don’t have to do it alone. I’m here to guide you every step of the way.

Whether you're decoding acronyms, understanding your rights, or preparing for school meetings, my goal is to empower you with the knowledge and confidence to advocate effectively for your child. I’ll help you understand your options, clarify complex evaluations, and ensure your voice is heard in the decisions that shape your child’s education.

I am not an attorney—I’m an educational advocate and consultant with nearly 30 years of experience inside the school system. I know how it works, and I’m here to help families work with the system to get the support their child needs.

Here’s how I support families:

  • I listen first, then help you build a plan.

  • I guide you in requesting or responding to evaluations for special education or Section 504 services.

  • I help you prepare for IEP or 504 meetings so you can be an informed, active participant.

  • I translate education jargon and processes into plain language so you can make empowered decisions.

Every child deserves an education that meets their needs—and every family deserves someone in their corner.
